Freedom Rock
According to the Carroll Daily Time Herald–
“Sorensen began the tour in 1999 with the painting of a large rock north of Greenfield and is now extending his paintings to one rock in each Iowa county. He recently completed a mural at the American Legion in Breda.
The Carroll County rock is at the east edge of Manning, in Willow Creek Park. The 9-1/2-foot-tall rock was moved from Dedham in March and is located near the entrance to the Hausbarn Heritage Park.
Inspired by images seen in films such as “Saving Private Ryan,” Sorensen has painted the original rock each year as a tribute to those who pay the ultimate sacrifice both at home and overseas. That rock, located 1/1/2 miles south of Interstate 80 at exit No. 86, is repainted annually for Memorial Day.”
